Late submissions will not be taken into consideration.
The recipient of the 2025 Writing Fellowship will be announced Friday 13 December, 2024.
Application Guidelines
The 2025 Liminal x Hyphenated Projects Writing Fellowship will be awarded on the strength and merit of application, by a panel of Liminal and Hyphenated Projects staff.
We welcome applications from writers of all genres.
The successful writer will receive a $1500 stipend for the residency.
No immediate outcome is expected from this residency, however we are happy to support you if you desire to run a workshop, gathering or reading at the Hyphenated Projects House.
The residency will take place at Hyphenated Projects, for up to two weeks. Hyphenated Projects offers a space for development and experimentation from artists of the Asian diaspora. Located in Sunshine West, Victoria, the residency offers artists, writers and producers 24/7 access to a studio residence that includes a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, outdoor space and laundry. Find out more here.
We welcome applications from interstate; however, please note you will have to cover your own travel costs.
The dates of the writing residency will be chosen in consultation with the 2025 Writing Fellow.
The successful writer will also have the option for two editorial mentorship sessions with Liminal editors, and a publication opportunity with Liminal.
If desired, the successful writer will have the option to work with a visual artist via Hyphenated Projects.
We invite you to apply for the fellowship if you identify as an Asian Australian writer. This fellowship is a small attempt to subvert the structural racism prevalent in the Australian literary landscape.
The selection panel’s decision is final.
Due to the number of expected applications, only shortlisted applicants will be contacted. We understand this is not ideal, but we are not paid to administer this prize and our inboxes already haunt us.
