A mirror is deeply seductive. Between people, it acts as a node of looking or seeing; it may contain endless articulations of desire. Even alone, a mirror dares us to play with ourselves. Presenting us with an image we can barely evade, mirrors test the exact boundary between self-concept and self-recognition.
Most of all, mirrors seduce us with the idea that they’re simple—a plane of reflection. In truth, they’re sly operators that flatter, distract and divide; focus, surveil and hide. In Mirror, you’ll find eight original artworks that split and shape lines of sight between individuals and worlds, epochs and generations. Whose fingerprints mark the glass?
