I think about sound, music and their relationship with context almost every day. One of my primary lenses I examine music through is reflecting on what contexts it could sit in—both as a DJ, and as someone who finds almost any experience enhanced by particular kinds of sonic accompaniment. I'd had the idea for an audio/essay hybrid for a while, I think part of it was seeded by brilliant works by E Fishpool and Natalia Newling for Runway Journal. Patrick Hase coded the idea and with the result I documented the tumultuous internal process of trying to sit with my senses, writing stream of consciousness in a near-hypnagogic state, and later assembling the emergent pieces.
